HOLIDAY HOMEWORK (2010-11) for Classes I-VIII
Class -I
ENGLISH
- Do page no 1 to 15 of cursive writing in your cursive book itself.
- Learn any two new words from the story book you have read and note down them in your English notebook.
- Draw and colour pictures to show the concept of one / many in your scrapbook itself.
MATHEMATICS
· Learn and write tables of 1 and 2.
· Using your hand prints make different motifs to decorate your class wall.
EVS
- Draw a huge tree on a chart paper. Paste on it things we get from plants like pulses, cereals, cotton and spices to make a beautiful collage.
FUN ACTIVITY
- Collect pictures of items that we use to keep ourselves clean. Paste them in your scrapbook.
ART AND CRAFT
- Make beautiful pen holders by using waste material.
- Make artificial jewelly by using caly , foil, macroni, shells, pipes, buttons and other material of your choice.
MUSIC
Learn prayer “Tu hi Ram hai”and five dohas of Kabir.
COMPUTER
- Color the picture
- Paste the pictures of parts of computer and write their use
- Write your name, parent’s name, grandparents name and bring the printouts
Class-II
ENGLISH
- Do one page daily of cursive writing book.
- Read any three short stories and draw your favourite character and write two or three lines about it in scrap file.
- Cut out bold alphabets from newspapers, magazines etc and join them to make new words in scrap file.
MATH
- Make a joker using all geometrical shapes and tell how many squares, triangles and rectangles have you used in the scrap file.
- Paste 15 matchsticks, 8 beads, 11 ice-cream sticks, 24 buttons and 10 stones on a pastel sheet. Then pair them and write even or odd in front of them.
- Do the given assignments.
- Make a family tree of your family, yourself on a chart paper. No help from others.
- Paste five spices and five other items which we get from plants and animals in scrap file.
- Collect shells, feathers, pebbles, twigs, marbles, etc and create something new out of it on a pastel sheet.
- Learn prayer ‘ TU HI RAM HAI’ and six dohas of Kabir. Try to learn their meaning too.
- Make decorative wall hanging for your bedroom along with your time- table below.
- One picture composition by using any material and write five lines describing the same.
COMPUTER
- Prepare chart displaying the parts of computer.
- Write a story on the notepad and bring the printout .
Class-III
ENGLISH
- Read any 3 Akbar-Birbal stories and tell which one did u like the most and why?
- Do click the photographs of the place you are going to visit and make a collage of the same and write a brief account of how you enjoyed yourself.
- Do one page of cursive writing on every alternate day, keeping the strokes in mind.
- Revise Chapter-3, Bhima and Mikoo along with back exercises.
- Read Panchtantra Tales and share them with your friends and cousins.
- Do cursive writing twice a week neatly.
- Revise and create a story of your own with the same moral. Do it in your Hindi notebook.
- Paste 10 different kinds of leaves and write a line about that plant. Do the work in your scrapbook.

S.ST
- Collect information about Rock Garden in Chandigarh. Can you make one thing out of waste of that kind.Observe and try to locate all the states of India on a map.
COMPUTER
- Prepare a well labeled chart of windows desktop.
- Record a story in your voice.
- Do the practical workshop of chapter 2 of your book

ENGLISH
- Read at least five books like- Panchatantra, Birbal Tales, Harry Potter series etc.
- Do one page of cursive writing neatly every fourth day. Pages 1 to 15.
- Listen to the English bulletin to improve your pronunciation and boost your confidence.
- Read Lesson- 4 to Lesson-6 from your English book.
- Visit National Museum or Doll Museum. Write what you liked about the place by using adjectives.
- Collect different types of leaves and flowers, paste them in your scrap file and label them.
- .Make manure at home with kitchen waste; keep putting all your kitchen waste like tea leaves, vegetable peels etc. in pots. Cover it with soil and dry leaves. After a month you will get manure for your plants.
- Make a travelogue of the place you are are going to visit during your holidays.
- Grow summer flowers like zinnia, bolsom, sunflowers, rose etc. in flower pots and put them in your balcony. Water them regularly.
- Draw all possible rectangles of 24 square units and find the factors of 24.
- Change the setting of your computer like desktop, mouse, screen saver, install a new program, delete a program.
- Create your birthday invitation card using mail merge, to be sent to 15 friends of yours and write down the steps of creation.
- Pay a visit to the internet café and check how they have created multiple user logins on one machine, and also how they have adjusted every user settings.
MUSIC
- Learn Dohas of KabIr, Raag Vrindavani, sarang (aaroh, awroh, pakad).
- Learn two songs based on Rupak taal.
